Joe Root is an international English Cricketer and also current test captain for the team. He is a right-handed batsman, right-arm off-breaker and leg-breaker.
Joe Root is from the hometown of Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England. He is a middle-order batsman and widely regarded for his batting style in the international games. According to the ICC ranking, Joe Root is the fourth top test batsman and Top fourth ODI batsman.
At the young age of 15, Root started playing cricket and joined in the King Ecgbert School with the cricket scholarship. On his father’s advice, Root joined in the Sheffield Collegiate CC where he learned lots of skills from the former England captain Michael Vaughan. Till starting the international career in cricket, Root played for the club and domestic games.
Joe Root played the first debut against Indian team on January 2013, although he didn’t get chance to bat but bowled nine overs. In the next match, he scored 36 runs from 50 deliveries. Later, in the fourth ODI, Root secured the first maiden half-century from 45 balls. At the end of the series, Root has scored 194 runs which considered significant for the debut batsman.
Later, Joe Root scored his first maiden century against West Indies team on March 2014 with a total score of 107 runs. From the year of 2014 to 2018, Root had good form and secured many centuries and wickets. Some notable events are 2014 ODI series against West Indies, in which Root scored the first century and as a bowler, he led the team to victory by taking four wickets. Joe Root awarded as the Match of the Match for his best performance in the series.
Also, In the next ODI series against India, Root showed an excellent performance at the end of the series by hitting 113 runs although Indian won the series by 3-1.
Joe Root has played entirely around 122 ODI games and secured around 5048 runs, 14 centuries, 29 half-centuries and has the top score 133 runs. And, also as a bowler he bowled 1342 balls and obtained 20 wickets.
Joe Root performed very well not only in the ODI but also in Test games. He started the test career by playing the first debut test game against India on December 2012. As a debut batsman, he secured the first maiden half-century in first-innings and scored 20 runs in second innings. In the end, the match was drawn and England won the series.
Joe Root secured the first maiden century by hitting 104 runs against New Zealand although he had some ups and downs in opening matches. But next few events Root had good batting form and became one of the successive batsmen.

When Alastair Cook retired from test games, Root appointed as the temporary captain and later on February 2017 selected as the permanent captain. As the captain for first test game, Root led the team for victory and also scored a century of 190 runs. Joe Root regarded as the fine batsman in the England team.
From 2014 to 2016, Joe Root won the ICC Test Team of the Year.
