Chris Gayle is a West Indies International Cricket Player. He is a right-handed batsman(changed from left) and right-arm bowler.
Gayle is from the hometown of Kingston, Jamaica. Since from the young Chris Gayle started playing cricket and now recognized as the most destructive batsman in cricket.
From the youthful age, Gayle played cricket and joined in the Lucas cricket club. In one of the interview, Gayle said: “If I didn’t join Lucas, I might be on the streets.”
After the club matches, Chris played at Youth international level. Later at the age 19, he made debut in first-class cricket. His performance earned a place in ODI, by making the first debut ODI against India on 1999. Later in March 2000, Gayle played his first test against Zimbabwe.
Although Chris Gayle didn’t score much in the few starting matches, later in a game against Kenya, he scored his first ODI maiden century of 152 runs from 150 balls. Also, he scored the early maiden test century in July 2001 against Zimbabwe with a total score of 175 runs from 255 balls.
Chris continued his strong batsman in many subsequent matches. Moreover, he prized for hitting sixes and also got a name as a most destructive batsman in cricket.
Chris Gayle got the attention of all by scoring three centuries against India on 2002 ODI series. He continued the impressive batting style in most following matches. Gayle along with other few players dropped from the test, due to some sponsorship issue. Later the problem solved.
In 2005 Test series against South Africa, Gayle showed a poor play in the first few matches. But in the third test, he scored 317 runs from 483 deliveries which helped the team by drawing the series.
Chris Gayle best score in the test is 333 runs from 437 balls against Sri Lanka and 215 runs in ODI against Zimbabwe. Also in the first T20 match, Gayle scored 117 runs which is the first high score record in Twenty20 Internationals.
Gayle has played entirely 103 test matches and 284 ODI matches with a total score of 16942 runs.
Not only in international cricket but Gayle also performed well domestics such as IPL, Pakistan Super League, Bangladesh Premier League, and Mzansi Super League. In IPL, Gayle played for the Kings XI Punjab team. Gayle played totally 96 IPL matches entirely with total runs 3563 and a high score of 175.
